The Sport Club 2014

A Not for Profit Association with the mission to stimulate the transformation of the real life and vulnerability of youth within the  periphery, the passion for the sport, giving them the opportunity to became a citizen and of possible a future as a professional soccer player.
A social and professional fair inclusion.

The project of the Sport Club 2014 develop a professional athlete career  for these youth, increasing their knowledge travelling, knowing new cultures, people, way of life, idiom, habit, philosophy and political view.
A new vision of the world.

Confront the frighten actual teenager violence picture in Brazil, developing the citizenship, self confidence knowledge, looking for better alternatives for their lives thru an educational structure, professional and directing to an employment, either in professional soccer or outside of it.
A new life.

THE BRAZILIAN REALITY

Brazil has several children and youth that live in districts considered a low income neighborhood, with no structure, not attending school, living in an extreme violent environment and with little or none opportunity to occupy their time and develop them cultural, social, physical and intellectually.

To exemplify, more then 80% of the 739 homicides in our city, Porto Alegre, in the years 2006 and 2007, are related to drugs and performed by teenager and youth*.

On the other hand, analyzing this problematic reality in the areas of low income and less infra structure, we visualize that the majority of the professionals, 89.7% soccer player, are from this periphery.

Our feeling is a lot of hope; the sport is a tool to transform and social inclusion. It is thru it that the youth will visualize more alternatives for their life and to construct more opportunity for their future, community and country, and why not for the world in general.

PRESENTATION

The Sport Club 2014 begun in the year 2005, to honor  the World Soccer Cup that would  be realized in Brazil in the year of 2014. At that time it was only a dream, but now is a reality after the announcement of FIFA; our entity has a board of director, a board of financial supervisor and a board of consultants, formed by members of the community such as social workers and young athletes, all from the periphery of the city and metropolitan area.
A Reverence to Brazil.
Presently we are working in three places in the city of Porto Alegre, they are: Periquito-District of Vila Nova, Araça-District of Pinheiro and Zero Hora-District of Restinga, and also the Not for Profit Organization named Solidariedade in the District of Cristal. In the mentioned places, we have a soccer field in each of them. Our main office is located at 317 Rafael Clark Street, District of Parthenon in Porto Alegre.
In the last two years we worked with 300 youths and the result was the placement of more then 70 youths to job training and employment in companies, such as commerce, professional soccer clubs in our state and other states in Brazil.
Today all the 300 youths have their lives modified to a better condition due to the work of the Sport Club 2014. In the coming year of 2010, we are working with 210 students, among children, teenagers and youth. One of our purpose for 2010 is to transform the 2014 in an OCIP (Brazilian type of organization to assist minorities and poor), in order to better attend our students, better qualification and professional courses, to have our own office, increase the number of students to 300 per year. The most important of all is to know that the children, teenager and youths are free from drugs and prepared to work, with a better understand of citizenship and prepared for the obstacle of  life.

ACTION AND METHODOLOGY

This project works with young people, their families and communities thru the sports, social, cultural and professional qualification activities.

We shall mention some activities already taken place and others that we intend to implant:

Training: The youth perform physical and technical training twice a week.

Games: Each week we play against non professional soccer clubs and or professional soccer clubs.

Courses/seminars/speech craft: these activities are performed by Soccer Club Directors, Professional Soccer Players, Referees, Federal Judges, Prosecutors, Psychologists, Physical Education Professors, Sociologists, Teachers, Businessman and many other professionals.

Psycho/social and family support: we provide to the athletes and their families a social and psychological service providing a necessary basis for a better development.

Sports Exchange Program: we pretend to provide opportunities to the youths to travel and an exchange program with sport clubs and partners from all over the world, that we maintain a relationship. Also looking for better alternatives, these experiences represent a dream of life for them and make an impulse for the motivation.

Professional Lead: we try to offer job opportunities in the commerce, industry and primarily in the professional soccer clubs.

Professional Courses: we try to offer courses to improve the professional qualification of the youth for the job market, with experts in their fields.
